Future Stars Girls - Win the 2010 Chinook Cup

Parent's Code of Conduct

If your son or daughter is a soccer fanatic, than we have an opportunity for them. Our Future Stars program is for boys and girls who love soccer and wish to learn more about the game. They learn to improve their ball skills and tactical awareness through coordination exercises, relays and games. We also introduce soccer specific dynamic (movement) stretching and ACL preventative training. Future Stars provides a safe, fun environment for the players to practice and play under the guidance of some of the finest coaches, trainers and teachers of the game in the state of Oregon.

Our focus is on the development of EVERY player, instead of just some players, with a systematic curriculum set up to focus on their individual technical ability (fundamentals) at the young ages. This provides each player with a rock solid foundation that they can build on. With this foundation their confidence in themselves will enhance 100% and so will their love of the game. Development is the ultimate goal, not wins. The main reasoning behind this player first focus is that in the past there has been too much focus on creating winning teams and the players’ technical skills never get fully developed enough to be able to carry out the tactics needed to play at the next level. After all, there are NO tactics without technique. It is the individual ball skills, creativity and love of the game that will create exciting soccer players who can play on successful teams. That is what our program provides.

Future Stars uses ‘player pools’ instead of the old and antiquated separate team system. The ‘player pool’ method has been an outstanding success in developing creative, skillful players who have an enhanced love of the game, their club, and the group as a whole. Future Stars is in addition to their recreational teams, not instead of. We do not recruit certain players, but, take in every player who has a passion for soccer. They train in pools because in our jamborees, festivals and tournaments they will play with different players in every game so everyone gets to shine. However, within those pools our coaching staff will evaluate and select those U9 & U10 individuals whom we deem above average to play together and represent EastSide United in higher caliber tournaments in the summer. This can be a spring board for players with classic aspirations.

Future Stars is a year round program designed for your convenience. Starting in June, our Summer program provides players the option of training 2 times per week in 2 different locations. Summer trainings are 5:30-7 on Tuesdays at Happy Valley Park and 6-7:30 on Fridays at Gresham High School. . Fall trainings go only on Friday nights starting in September as does the Spring trainings starting in February. Players can attend as many training sessions as they like, when they like. Each age group will practice in gender specific groups where we encourage all players to play without any fear of making mistakes and to express themselves positively on the soccer field. Our coaches challenge all of the players to get better and improve and in the process encourage sportsmanship and good values. There are no Future Stars trainings during the winter. We encourage all Future Stars participants to register for our Winter Academy program that runs in November and January and includes outdoor training sessions one night and Futsal type small sided games on the other night. There is an additional fee for the Winter Academy Program.

Our coaches are licensed and specialize in working with and developing young players. Our coaching philosophy is to guide the players to the answers of the many challenges that the sport provides so that they have a better understanding of the game itself, instead of throwing all the answers at them and expecting them to remember. We want the game of soccer to be a journey; our coaches will just be guides.

The FIRST Future Stars training is free and we encourage all to come and experience what is offered. After that we know your child will want to attend again. The program uses a punch card system that comes in easy to purchase bundles of 8 sessions ($60), 16 sessions ($110), and 24 sessions ($155). We do not expect every player to attend all trainings, but would love it if they did. Each player’s punch card will be waiting for them every time they arrive to check in. Please check out our training schedule for our next time and location where you can come out. We look forward to seeing you on the pitch.
