Fall and Spring Sessions
The TOPSoccer program is for children with disabilities in our community. These are children that cannot participate and play with the majority of the kids, or may be shunned. TOPSoccer provides children the opportunity to enjoy soccer and the thrill of playing a team sport. The Outreach Program for Soccer, TOPSoccer was formed by US Youth Soccer to further their goal "To foster the physical, mental, and emotional growth and development of America's youth in soccer at all levels of age and competition". It also meets Oregon Youth Soccer's mission statement "To foster an environment that promotes the physical, mental, and emotional development of Oregon's youth through the sport of soccer".
TOPSoccer is managed through Oregon Youth Soccer, and hosted by local soccer clubs. OYSA will provide TOPSoccer "T" shirts and the equipment to set up a successful program. ESUFC runs two 8-week sessions, one in the Fall and one in the Spring. Soft soccer balls, "Pop Up" goals, equipment bags, "bell" balls for children with a vision impairment, and "wheelchair" balls will all be provided along with an array of sensory stimulating equipment.
All TOPSoccer players need to register. Download the Player Registration form and other forms in the Forms Library. If you have already participated in TOPSoccer through EastSide United FC, you do not need to re-register. Please call or email Sue Protz and let her to know to expect you again and have a buddy available for you.
Coaches and adults, including adult players, participating in TOPSoccer must fill out the online Background Disclosure. Those who are registered coaches and who have had a current background check completed during the current soccer year need not complete the online background disclosure.
TOPSoccer is free to any child with a disability age 5 years old and up. The major out of pocket expenses are born by Oregon Youth Soccer, and are paid from revenues received from registration fees and grants. TOPSoccer players are covered by Oregon Youth Soccer insurance at no cost to the participants. Donations are accepted, which are generally used to purchase refreshments for the participants and treats at the end of the season.
