Welcome to EastSide United FC, a non-profit program dedicated to sharing our vision and love for the game of soccer. ESUFC is the most professional and progressive soccer club on the eastside and we strive in offering a variety of opportunities for children to experience and cultivate a passion for soccer. One such offering is our Recreational Fall League.
What is ESUFC Recreational Fall League?ESUFC Recreational Fall League is available for children U5 through U18 who wish to learn skills while playing the game of soccer purely for the fun of it! This league is a genuine non-competitive recreational league where children are taught the game of soccer through practices and soccer matches. Other key points making this a successful recreational league are –
- No matter the child’s skill level, every child plays 50% of each game.
- No scores are kept and rules are set in place to keep all teams on an equal playing field – ESUFC’s emphasis is all about the joy of the game.
- ESUFC scheduled age specific group practice and coach “meet and greet” for players, coaches and parents.
- Jamboree for pictures and games to kick off the season
- Age appropriate training modules for both players and coaches
ESUFC – Gresham: Practices and all games (for U5 – U8) and all home games (for U9 – U14) held within the Gresham area.
ESUFC – Sandy/Welches: Practices and all games (for U5 – U8) and all home games (for U9 – U14) held within the Sandy area and, if practical and contingent on Welches player/coach registration numbers, held within the Welches area.
ESUFC – Clackamas: Practices and all games (for U5 – U7) held at Happy Valley Park. U8 teams may practice at Happy Valley Park with games played in Gresham, or, contingent on player numbers, players may be placed in Gresham league.
- All ESUFC U5, U6, U7 and U8 ESUFC-Sandy/Welches play coed
- U5-U8 teams play locally (Gresham, Sandy/Welches) with U8 Clackamas teams playing in Gresham
- U9/10 teams travel between Gresham and Sandy/Welches
- U11-14 teams play “home” games on home fields and “away” games in the local metro area

Who are the ESUFC Recreational Fall League Coaches? All ESUFC recreational coaches are volunteers made up predominately of parents. To become an ESUFC recreational coach, these volunteers must first -
- Register as a coach or assistant coach with ESUFC online
- Fill out and pass a background/disclosure check
- Agree and sign a Coaches Code of Conduct
- Participate in an ESUFC age appropriate coaching module training
- Participate in a National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) coach certification class offered by ESUFC for those coaches not holding a current NYSCA certification
- Attend a mandatory coaches meeting required of all past and new coaches
ESUFC is ALWAYS in need of positive, energetic volunteers looking to coach and make a positive difference in a child’s life. Please consider volunteering your time for ESUFC.

So how do I register my child to play in the ESUFC Recreational Fall League? On-line registration is now available and we strongly encourage all members to register online. For those needing to purchase a new uniform , please see the uniform price chart below:

ESUFC Fall Fundraiser: All fall recreational players are strongly encouraged to participate in our fundraiser of selling candy and meat sticks. An alternative to selling product is to pay an opt out fee of $35 per player or $50 per family. Money earned goes to capital improvements.
How does ESUFC put Fall Recreational teams together? How ESUFC makes up teams differs between age groups:
- U5, U6, and U7 coaches are allowed (2) freezes, one of which would include their own child and another that would include the child of a possible assistant coach. The remainder of the player slots open on the teams are then filled with buddy requests and then school ties when practical and finally random draws from the player pool, in that order.
- U8 coaches and new U9 – U14 coaches are allowed (5) freezes, one of which would include their own child and another that would include the child of a possible assistant coach. The remainder of the player slots open on the team are then filled from the player pool using schools and buddy requests when possible. Buddy requests do apply to freezes noted above.
- Established U9 – U14 teams will keep their teams together from last fall as long as the previous coach returns to coach the team. Any open roster spots will be filled via random draws from the player pool. Buddy requests can only be honored for those players in the player pool – not for those players currently on an established team.
Parent/Player Requests: The ONLY requests accepted are:
- Coach Freezes
- Player/Buddy Requests – only (1) reciprocal buddy request per player except as noted above for existing U9 – U14 teams.
- Parent Request To Place Player Back Into The Player Pool
- Parent Request Not To Have Player Placed With A Certain Coach Or Player
*ESUFC will not honor any carpooling requests, coach requests, or any other requests not listed above.
Player/Buddy Request: If (2) players would like to play on the same team, we will do our best to make this arrangement. In order for this to take place, BOTH players must make the request to play together (player “A” requests to play with player “B” and player “B” requests to play with player ”A”). Each player must include their buddy’s first AND last name on their registration. Players may only request (1) buddy and both players must be registered on or before July 7. ESUFC must be in receipt of full payment for the buddy request to be honored. See note regarding established U9 – U14 teams with regards to the buddy rule. **Player/Buddy requests may not be honored if registering late (after 7/7/10).
After registering my player what is the next step? After successfully registering and making payment with ESUFC, the next time we need to see you will be for group practices and, if you are new to ESUFC, the new parent meeting.
New Parent Meeting & Group Practices
Parents: ESUFC requires that each parent new to the club attend a mandatory parent meeting. We will share our mission statement and explain the club’s soccer philosophy to new members. ESUFC will also outline the expectations of the club for the coaches, the players, and the parents. All parents will be required to sign a Parent Code of Conduct.
Players: Your first practice will be a group practice. This is also when you will meet your coach for the first time and when you may pick up your uniform kit, if one was ordered. At the end of the group practices, your child’s individual recreational coach will communicate with you your teams’ days, times and location for team practices.
Following are the group practice/new parent meeting schedules for ESUFC-Gresham, ESUFC-Sandy/Welches, and ESUFC-Clackamas. Please note that ESUFC does not hold group practices for U13/14, however, they will have an age group training session set up with the ESUFC Recreation Head Coach. U13/14 coaches will notify their players in mid August with practice schedules.
